About us

Founded in 1845, in the midst of the industrial revolution, in Paris, the Congregation of the Religious of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul is dedicated to the evangelization of popular circles, of “working families”.
With their motto “May Christ be announced in all ways“, the Religious Fathers and Brothers of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul naturally turned towards the education of young people and assistance to the poor.
Father and Brother: this is vital in the RSV:
“We cannot, in our Institute, priests and lay people*, live apart, the nature of our works makes the action of the lay people indispensable everywhere; it would be nullifying us, destroying our existence in its depths, to undermine this vital condition“. (Letter of Father Le Prevost n°709)
*By the term “Lay” Father Le Prevost designates the brothers of the Congregation who are not priests and are therefore lay people.
