Our general chapter will be held from May 9 in Paris
It’s at the Lazarist House, rue de Sevres in Paris, to the Shrine of our Patron Saint, which will meet at From May 9, the representatives of all our entities (the capitulants): France, Canada, West Africa (Burkina‐Faso and Ivory Coast), Brazil and the Democratic Republic of Congo for the general chapter.
What is a General Chapter?
We read in the RSV Constitutions:
The General Chapter, an Easter event in our Congregation and a privileged moment of grace, makes us enter further into the path of conversion. Gathered by the Spirit, the capitulants listened to him and allowed themselves to be imbued with the thoughts of Saint Vincent de Paul and of Jean‐Léon Le Prevost, Clément Myionnet and Maurice Maignen.
The ordinary General Chapter meets every six years. He proceeds to the election of the Superior General and that of the assistants; it also examines matters that fall within its competence.
The General Chapter ordinarily meets every 6 years, so it was supposed to meet in 2020 but due to the COVID pandemic, it was postponed to 2021 and then to 2022.
