Agro-pastoral training

The “J.J.D.” (Young Gardens of Dédougou) were created in 1982 by the Religious of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul toeducate young men and womenof Dédougou and its region in agricultural trades in particular.

Love is the main ingredient in this house where charity is donated.

The training given to the J.J.D. allow the young people who receive them to become independent to feed their family and easily find work after training which is intended to be concrete and complete.

Market gardening, agriculture, breeding but also sewing, carpentry and mechanics for 2 wheels are the training courses currently offered by the J.J.D.

There are currently 34 young people (30 boys and 4 girls) in training who will then be able toenable their families to support themselves vital. The boys are boarders.

Families contribute to training costs. An annual contribution of 10,000 CFA francs (about 15 euros) is requested. This contribution is given either in cash or in “kind” (a 10 kg bag of maize, millet, rice or beans). However, this is still insufficient :the food budget is 500 CFA francs (€0.75) per student per day. The products collected are also a source of income insofar as they are used to feed the students. Part of the harvest is sold to cover part of the school fees.

It also takes a minimum of money to make
run the school: pay the staff (a teacher
boarding school, two monitors, a caretaker and a
cooker), cover maintenance expenses and
of investment.

Thanks to your donations, we were able to build a pigsty and buy 3 pregnant young sows. We are thus extending our breeding activity (we already have 2 cows and a calf, 8 sheep and about forty hens). We thank you. We still need to buy a pig and 2 sows.

This is our mission,
help us give them a job, thank you.
